Forward-thinking. It's ironic that Apple's marketing slogan for the iPhone 5s invites us to look ahead to the future when, from the outside, the device looks like a carbon copy of last year's model, the iPhone 5. But just like any other odd-year iPhone -- the "S" version, if you will -- the 5s plays the Transformers card by offering more than meets the eye, with a few key improvements on the inside.

I am impressed. The iPhone 5S manages to be faster than the Nvidia Shield (showcasing Tegra 4) and the LG G2 (showcasing Snapdragon 800.)

Dual core, but faster. Most mobile apps don't use quad core yet.

Yep. Two cores, 4 threads or something like that for Apple. It's better than 4 low powered cores.

 

I mean, think about which is better. Intel or AMD? ;P

Very good review by Anand as always. That A7 chip is quite impressive.

iPhone 5S is horrible, cool feature but not worth the upgrade for me. Fingerprint is quite useless unless your those type who dont like seeing lockscreen/unlocking. Slow mo is cool with bad video quality. The camera quality is probably the best about the iPhone 5S in night shot. A7 SoC is quite a useless CPU that's paired with 2GB RAM... Overall I think the iPhone 5S is quite an impressive smartphone BUT some things about it is horrible, like screen size paired with incredible hardware with the features that isn't good enough. My next iPhone, could be possible iPhone 7S "if" it even exist in the future... I'm thinking about switching from iPhone 5 for something like Samsung Galaxy S7 in the future if the S7 even exist...

faster is irrelavent. The iPhones software is tailored to the hardware, not so much on android. If android was better optimized for the Tegra 4/ Snapdragon 800, we would be seeing very different results. Guarantee it

and that's the benefit of having only one set of hardware to optimize for...less costs(less RAM etc.), higher margins, faster.

I think that the deciding factors for consumers nowadays are not hardware specs anymore but the ecosystem and the UI - it means alot more

I would love for google to tighten it's ropes on Android a bit. The fragmentation is extreme. A good compromise would be nexus devices being well tailored for the operating system. They are already to an extent but not to my liking.
