Slowing down "System cooler"

I had 120x120 fan installed on the side of my pc case and turns out it is VERY loud at night. I tried speedfan and it doesn't react to it... So i was wondering if i put somehing over the cooler vent to reduce the flow (NOT BLOCK), fan does slow down and become more quiet but i wanna know can anything happen to the cooler if it stays like that over night?

It won't hurt the fan .

It might just be turbulence. Is it pushed up against a bunch of tiny holes?

Or you could just unplug it at night but make sure the computer is off before you unplug. Or you could mod your molex connector to run at 7v:

How is fan connected? To your mobo or to psu? and to which fan header? Can your bios detect fan speed? If fan is not shown in bios that means that mobo doesn't have control for system fans.
