Oculus Founder Delivers first "Rift" Headset Personally

Oculus founder delivers first Rift headset in person

Something really nice to see, lightens up the mood from the whole "Apple vs FBI" case palaver to be honest, Oculus have started shipping the new Rift headset to consumers, a big deal considering this isn't a development kit, its actually right out-of-the-box kick-ass and ready to go... Use it with Steam and all that jazz, the whole setup (providing your PC can run it, check out other posts for suggested VR builds) will be compatible with many of the latest game titles, sit in front of the PC and bring the monitor right in front of your eyes.

What's even better is that the first customer-placed order has been hand-delivered by the founder of the company, something you'll rarely see, it would be really nice to have something delivered in person like that, if I was running a multi-million dollar company, I would probably put nice touches on my customer relations in this kind of way, plus it gets my business in the news like this did.

Hi JurunceNK,

Those are some excellent suggestions, I'm assuming I'm safe with my Dual 980Ti ASUS 20th Anniversary Edition, i7 5960X, 64GB Dominator Platinum RAM, Asus X-99 Deluxe and custom water-cooling? :D

What are sales taxes JustNHthings

Sales taxes are taxes that are charged on top of the base price at the point of purchase. Sales taxes in some states are required to be charged as part of applicable state laws.

Autodesk Maya, CAD stuff for my 3D printing, heavy sessions of CS:GO, Fallout 4, Farcry 4, Farcry Primal, GTA V, The Division... I have only recently finished the build, I'd like to start a YouTube channel and thought something for exporting my 4K footage would be useful mainly :)

Ah I see. So I don't have to rant on you for going totally overkill on the CPU and RAM? Cool beans :D. But SLI 980 Ti's should set you for a long while before you actually have to upgrade.

Thank you, finally someone who isn't going to rant at me over my CPU and RAM xD and yeah, I was hoping I would get some future proofing with the 980Ti's to be fair, don't really wanna be fishing out for a while now. :)

That joke went right over your head. In NH we don't have a sales tax, hence me saying "what is sales tax"

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

It's not a joke there. I even said that in the disclaimer. I know that not every state has a sales tax.

Getting a little impatient with my order. Palmer has said that Wednesday will be the day for most preorder shipments. Hoping that is true, however I gave not received my 1-3 week email. Also the fov controversy is swaying me to sell the Rift when it comes with the current rates for the Rift are around $1300, selling my rift and having some money left over to get the vive, I wouldnt even consider selling it if it came with touch as I think it's the better made product atm.

I watched the video of this, oh god it was cringey... The guy didn't have a PC, oculus provided him with a ready pc afterwards which is a nice gesture. I go on the r/oculus subreddit quite a lot and they had the right idea, some of my favourites were wearing a hawaiian t-shirt and flip flops. However the one that had me in tears was a guy suggesting that you should have worn tinited glasses and had a white stick when you opened the door.

You got it? Awesome. Personally, I'm waiting for next year's tax returns to get a Vive.

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

No not yet :( they're meant to be sending emails today. It's kinda been a joke really, perhaps one of the worst times to launch ever.
