Totally random today, my PC just turns of while i play bo3, and when i try to boot my PC this screen pops up:

image.thumb.jpg.73377cf91d6882f32e15192b

try resetting BIOS, if that doesn't work you may have to reinstall the game. This is most likely a problem with some game files, if your PC works fine without bf3

Well this is the first time I have ever seen this happen. Its normally just a blinking vertical line |. didnt even know it could write "box drawing characters" without windows.

Is this before or after the bios screen?
If it is after I would suggest seeing if you can boot linux off a usb. If you can it proves your pc is all good in the head.

Edit: Im only saying this because it might annoy you if you spend a day and realize this later, but do check the common things why computers dont boot. EG unplug all usb drives, take out all disc`s and try holding f8 or whatever and try a safe mode boot

Firstly what OS is on it?
seconly does the message appear after or before the windows logo
Thirdly is the HDD indicator light on the laptop blinking during the process?
Yeah be careful with cmos batteries. If that breaks say goodbye to the motherboard

Im going to say right now that in my personal experience, 70% of the time its been easier to reinstall windows than it has been to repair it. But on occasion it has worked. If you have any important files you can get them off by running another os (I prefer linux to do this as I think windows has a hissy fit about "this file belongs to this OS so you cant have it")

Yeah this is why I said use linux/ubuntu off a usb if you want your files. Microsoft made a whole mess with not letting one windows access another windows files. I mean you probably could unlock it somehow, but its just a bad idea. Making a linux usb wont take you more than half an hour. You can then use it to copy files where you like.

Try this. Get a USB flash drive bigger than 4gb, then download this https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

After that get a program (e.g: rufus) to get the ISO image onto your usb.

This guide should help:

So after you do that, plug in your usb and boot your pc, your pc should detect the usb drive and boot it, if not go into BIOS and set it as priority no1. You then click repair drive (keep the 'damaged drive' plugged in but not the other one you booted win7 on).

If you need more help just ask.

You just need to go into Disk Management and mount the disk. No need for Linux... Windows will just by default not mount any other disks that have a Windows OS in them. But from what I'm gathering your SSD could be failing.

~ Specs bellow ~

I was only suggesting linux if you have files on there you want. If you do not and keep everything important on the cloud like me then yeah just reinstall the thing.. Feel free to try what TGROBBO said but just make sure you dont have stuff you want on their. I always fall into the mistake one year later like "oh yeah my CV was there"

This could also be a thing. :D
As I mentioned I have never touched windows 8 or newer because they make my life hell.

I think the same happens on older versions of Windows. Probably to avoid startup confusions... not sure.

Hmm. I will be sure to try it next time. Personally I have always had permission issues with windows files so I always just avoided this and never put much thought into it. Hence me keeping everything on the cloud. and nuking my windows install when anything serious went wrong

I like to babysit my install so nothing serious goes wrong, but if it does I fix it. I spend way too much time configuring everything to be re-installing every time a problem occurs
