SSD read/write speed vs. price

I currently have a Kingston Hyper X Fury 120GB installed in my system. I'm looking to get a larger capacity SSD to run along side it. What would be your recommendation? (I started looking at all this when I came across the ADATA SP550 being at such a good looking price compared to everyone else and wanted to know why.)

well i generally recommend people getting the 850 evo,

its a good balance between price, reliability and performance

and i normally mix 250gb 850 evo with 2tb of wd blue HDD,

so you get speed for your softwares and you get the capacity to store files like movie and songs

if you want the best value per gb, the 850 evo 500gb + wd blue 3tb :D

So I've been looking into getting an SSD. The problem I've run into is that manufacturers post the specifications of their products that are extremely similar to their competitors, yet the price difference between them is sometimes ridiculous.

Here's an example:  ADATA SP550 SATA III SSD (480GB)           Kingston Hyper X Fury SATA III SSD (480GB)             Samsung 850 EVO SATA III SSD (500GB)

                                          560 Read / 510 Write                                        450 Read / 208 Write                                                   540 Read / 520 Write

                                                      $113                                                                $182                                                                               $160

So according the manufacturer specifications, the ADATA SP550 is a fucking steal for the price. But according to most threads comparing any product against any product, the only information that can be gathered from the fanboy fights is that comparing these SSD's is like comparing a turtle to a fucking tortoise in how fast they can fly. THIS SHIT IS CONFUSING.

So here are the questions: Which SSD is worth my money compared to the others? How so?

A quick note: I already know this was a stupid post with a lot of stupid information for such simple questions. I already know I'm retarded, so you can cut some time out of your reply by not reiterating this obvious fact. A gift from me to you. Thank you.

one thing you should note is that if you're upgrading from a HDD system, any SSD will make it look like your computer is running on steroids,

and ssd have 2 out of 3 main characteristics, cheap, reliable and speed

some ssd are cheap and run fast, but the read/write cycles arent great and they die sooner than reliable ones

my general recomendation is get a reliable and fast ssd, unless you're really on a tight budget

did i mention not to get a v300 from kingston? yea just dont

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

What's wrong with it? Curious is all. Trying to understand the differences in the plethora of options out there.

well even if kingston fixed this issue, its still a bad practice, and im going to boycott them until they redeemed themselves

its just like everthing else in life, some companies high high overhead, advertising costs, etc. i have 3 adata ssds running in various peoples computers and they work fine.

in some cases though, some manufacturers use inferior chips, have a lower quality control.  some of the off brands are actually made by some of the "high-end, reputable"  companies, you see a lot of that in china made products.

just remember when buying its not always good to go with the online reviews at amazon, newegg, etc , some people get products free or discounted(im one of them) to give reviews or just bought it and used it less than a week and its awesome then one week after the review it dies.

i just ordered the sandisk ssd ultra II 480gb and a mushkin 480gb both for $99 i have no worries about either, unlike the KingDian ssd i bought that still works well after 3 months

i install and reistall my os 2-4 times a year and backup important stuff to my external hd's or bluray, if you're worried about losing data then go for the better known brands like the 850, which have proven to be reliable.

anyway long post because im bored and did my component shopping for the week so i need to stay away from amazon, etc.

if i post a link to amazon try to use the LTT affiliate code to help the channel http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=linustechtips-20

Yeah, I never really thought about things like that because I figured, "hey, most average consumers don't even know what an SSD is so (like headphone brands like Sennheiser) these costs are quite low." But I suppose that's rather naive to think. I'm definitely considering the 850 EVO because I've only heard good things about it.
