This is my build

 

Currently I have a corsair cx 750 80 + bronze powering my system [spec below] . Is it too much? (I got a good deal on the psu and thats why I bought i)

  • MotherboardGigabyte Z170X Gaming 3
  • RAMDDR4 Corsair Vengeances 8gb 3200MHz
  • GPUgtx 970 Asus Strix OC edition
  • CaseNZXT S340 black and red
  • StorageKingston SSDNow V300 120GB and WD Blue 1TB
  • PSUCorsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze
  • Display(s)Asus VE228 LCD Monitor

You won't need more than a 500W PSU to run that rig with a GTX 970 at full load - and that's including headroom.

 

Since you already have the PSU, just keep it.

but if you already bought it, i suppose you can use it

but if you can, buy a better psu to replace it and use it as a spare, if you're comfortable with the extra cost of course

Well 750W is a bit overkill, but it's not a good PSU to "overkill" with. The CX750 is pretty mediocre, to be honest.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
