Since I built my computer I have yet to bother activating Windows 10. Right now the only thing I noticed because of this is the little "activate Windows" splash in the bottom right corner of my screen and the fact that I can't customize a few things inside of my personal settings. Is there anything else that I am missing because I have not bought a Windows key and activated? If so, what kind of things am I missing out on and do I need them?

Thanks

You will need to purchase a Windows 10 product key.

The Home edition is retail license. Pro is a OEM license.

Erm... I was asking about what kind of things I am currently not getting access to since I don't have it activated at the moment. Things besides the two I listed in my thread, obviously.

Great question, I've been wondering the same thing. I think you can't change the desktop background but I'm fine with the default anyway.

Your computer will start to shutdown on you without warning, and the time it takes for automatically shutdown on you will reduce over time.

Are you serious? When will it start trolling me like this?

Without activation it will automatic shutdown after some time. Possible workaround. Open admin cmd

Win 10 Home

"slmgr.vbs -ipk YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7"

Win 10 Pro

"slmgr.vbs -ipk VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T"

Reboot. Note these are generic keys no activation keys. However they will bypass the disabled settings

You can change background without activating. Just sync you theme with another Win 10 PC if you have one and the background will be applied to yours too.

I never needed to do that. I just kinda change my background by right clicking a picture and clicking "set as desktop background".

How can they be a troll, when they're trying to protect their product. I bet if you make a software, it would be more troll than what MS can come up with. :P

Randomly shutting down computers without even giving a warning is a pretty dick move. They could have easily came up with any other way to protect their products, lol.

It warns you about the behavior. The idea is that you have time to backup your stuff, and install back wtv OS you had before, as you are in trial mode that has expired (when it starts doing it), or give you time to go and buy online your license if Windows and activate it.
