Download Speed for PS$ slow?

Tyrosen

I have a 100Mbps internet, connected right into the PS4, but when I test, or download games on my PS4, it is around 5-10 mbps. How do I fix this problem?? Please help, I'm feeling like I wasted money

your carrier has sold you 100 Mbps internet.

Your PS4 is downloading in MBps.

100Mbps = ~10MBps.

nothing is broken that is standard.

idk

How long does it take you to download a say 30gb game?

Make sure you connect via ethernet. WIFI adapter on the PS4 is terrible.

Thanks for the responses guys, sorry for late response. I found the problem. I have another router acting as an ethernet switch in my house, and it seems to bottleneck the internet. So guess im buying a real switch now.

Mine's always been crap on every PlayStation device. 50Mbps down and the best I can ever pull off is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15Mbps on PSN no matter the device (PS3, PS4, PSTV, PS Vita), wired or wireless. I've tried every fix I can find and nothing helps. First thing you will find is always setting up the connection manually and setting either Google or OpenDNS for your DNS settings. Doesn't help much when your ISP already uses Google's DNS. Next thing you will see is always hardwire. Mine sees no difference wired or wireless. And this is with a gigabit router with nothing but Cat 6a sticking out of it.

It's just PSN though. Other services on the same devices are fine. I get buffering here and there on PSN video but watching movies on Amazon Video (in 1080p) or videos on YouTube, no problem. Hell, even with its garbage WiFi, the Wii U plays 1080p video on YouTube and Amazon Video with no problems. Steam on the PC saturates the connection just fine with downloads, and I even found a speed tester that worked in the PS4's browser that showed the full 50Mbps so it's purely on Sony's end.

Also, gaming seems fine too. Destiny is the only game I've played online on any of my PlayStation stuff (I like JRPGs mostly) and lag is minimal. No worse than anything I've played on PC. It's just downloads and streaming from PSN that's the problem.

Basically, just start you downloads before you go to bed and just let the PS4 download them in low power mode. Enjoy your 100Mbps on everything else.
