GTX 960 Wattage Question

Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

On load with a full system, with a 960 pulls lower than 300 watts so you should be good

Hello all,

I have a query about the GTX 960 wattage, on the nvidia website it mentions that the recommended system power is 400w (and uses 120w). Currently in my build I have an XFX it's either 430 or 450 watt. I know this is over the recommended power, but would it be safe for me to run it on that? Or is there any dangers due to not having much head room wattage wise? I'm planning on getting a better PSU I just wondered if there's any implications in the mean time.

I have an i5 2400 Sandy Bridge, 2 x 4gb Corsair Vengence RAM and one HDD and one SSD, oh and a PCI Wifi Card, if any of that matters.

Thanks in advance

and we will live such tragedy in perpetuity.

But bear in mind it what your PSU can pull on the 12V and 5V rail that what counts not the full vol tech of the PSU.
