Friend needs help with a pc build

jousef

My friend is looking to build a pc for around 800 CAD including the monitor.

I suggested linus latest Holiday buying guide but he wasnt a fan of the amd athlon x4 860K.

He does some programming and plays games like cs:go and dota 2

Well depending on when he's buying, AM4 APUs might be out, and then you'd get a better display, probably 1080p 144hz free-sync

otherwise i3 + 360

APU build with 1080p 144hz Free-sync display, less performance obviously, and AM4 would be better to wait for, but the 144hz display is going to make up for a lot of that, especially if competitive games are his focus

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
