Gtx 780 sli vs 970 sli

EcDarkSky

are you gonna buy two "new" cards?

if so, buy one 980ti. it'll be better than both of those options on the big average, and in the long run.

then 970 sli is the better choice , since a 970 is slightly better than a 780 ti ( and uses a lot less power )

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Hi guys

For a 3440x1440p screen should i take a gtx 780 sli or a 970 sli

the 780 sli seems to be good even with the 3gb vram http://www.tweaktown.com/tweakipedia/99/3440x1440-benchmarked-nvidia-geforce-cards-sli/index.html

I dont know thanks for help

p.s. g sync monitor so no amd

meh, SLI gonna suck so bad for you at that res. Nvidia scaling is shit.

Get a GTX 980 and save up for a second GTX 980. Even SLI 970 isnt enough.

I got a 3440x1440 monitor with DUAL 290X (R9 295x2), and even they struggle to get even 60FPS at higher graphics settings... DONT WASTE TIME ON 970s or 780s.

I'd hold on to that money and get a 980ti when they drop a bit lower, it's probably the best option if you aren't in a rush

Don't SLI, I had 2 970s and performance ranged from excellent to absolutely shite depending on the game.

Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ashes of the SIngularity, Skyrim with mods (4k and 8k textures + physics), Tomb Raider 2013, Assassins Creed Syndicate, Metro Last Light Redux, Guildwars 2 (this one REALLY struggles. Although its DX9 though), Far Cry 4....

Rainbow Six Siege hits 60FPS at max settings, but that is about the only one.

Oh yeah, and i dont turn down anything unless i dont want/need it.

Stuff i dont use: AA above 4x, Hairworks, Blur, Motion Blur, Film Grain, Vsync

my R9 295x2 vs 980 SLI....

This is why i said 970 is a waste. my dual 290Xs is slightly slower then dual 980s, yet EVEN MY SETUP STRUGGLES at 3440x1440p

Also, you need a beefy CPU to power SLI setups properly. Especially in DX11 and DX12. I wouldnt bother with SLI at all unless you got at least a 4.5Ghz+ i5 4690k or a i7 3770k or better.

When pascal and polaris arrive, prices of used 980 ti, r9 nano and fury will drop

Maybe you get lucky and find some of mentioned for 400€ then.
