Usually 2 6+2's will get it done. Make sure, if you are getting the whole cable(not just the extension), that it's compatible with your psu. And if you don't need the +2, just cut dat trick!

I wouldn't cut it off, not the safest thing to do.

But yeah make sure that the cables you buy are going to be compatible with the G series. But the ribbon cables that comes with it are actually pretty nice.

Agreed. Tuck it so it's hidden and zip tie it, definitely do not cut that off.

Biostar TA990FXE(fail),

I also neglected to respond to you earlier, but your board is actually pretty decent. If I didn't buy a Gigabyte board I would have probably bought that one. 4+1 phase is not bad when you consider that thing can definitely withstand some abuse due to it having an analogue instead of digital VRM. It theoretically could manage a TDP in the upper 200's, possibly supporting a 220W FX.

If you want to have blue PCI-E cables, you could just get cable extensions and hide the original psu cable behind the case.

You not only need the right pci-e cables, but also enough amps on your 12v rail, though most psu's these days have plenty
