Hi,

I just got a HP Pavilion 15 af159au and want to do a clean install of windows 10 to get rid of all the bloatware. I have the OS on my USB and went to install it and i got to the partition section and there were 5. I want to know if it's safe to delete the following partitions and install the OS on just 1 partition or if i should keep some for a reason. Also, what should i backup and how, if anything, since i haven't used the machine yet.

Drive 0: Partition 1 SYSTEM

Drive 0: Partition 2 MSR (reserved)

Drive 0: Partition 3 WINDOWS

Drive 0 :Partition 4 WINRE (recovery)

Drive 0: Partition 5 RECOVERY (OEM Reserved)

Thanks for the help :)

You should at least back up your recovery partition before doing a clean install. At least for warranty purposes.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Thanks Guys,

Made a backup of the recovery partition and deleted everything for a clean and successful install :)

Off to download some drivers now lol

Make sure you do the backup step properly. My laptop's recovery software had the option to copy the recovery partition to an external drive and make it bootable. The biggest problem you'll face is how to make your recovery parition bootable, if you try to copy the partition manually.

If your recovery software doesn't give you that option, you can use Windows's own recovery media creator. It's in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Recovery" (without quotes).
