Not too bad, if you plan on overclocking though I'm not sure about a H97 motherboard.

Usually H and B motherboards don't allow overclocking or aren't designed to handle it.

Things wrong

  • H97, you go witha  4790k, you're gonna want an board that supports overclocking
  • Don't use SuperNOVA's go with an EVGA G2 750w
  • 840 is out of date go with the 850 Evo
  • You can get a windows 10 key on reddit for 25~ dollars
  • 390 > 970 in most situations
  • a i5 is all you need for gaming, save yourself $100 and put it into a better GPU.
  • 5400RPM is ungodly slow go with 7200RPM (Aka Seagate Barracuda or WD Black)
  • Edit: Now that I see you're gonna be doing Editing too
  • Faster RAM, buy them in a single 16GB kit for best operation

Spoiler

1) changed your processor to a non-overclocking xeon, same performance as an i7 4790, but with the price of an i5

2) changed your ssd back to 850, 840 is out dated

3) you can get windows cheaper elsewhere

PS: i went with a 970 for him because he wanted a white and blue build
i cant find any 390 with that colour

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Then you should get a locked CPU. Save yourself $20 and go with a cheaper motherboard because Z97 is too expensive if you don't plans overclocking, just get this instead.

1) get a 390 for more performance, unless you need nvidia's features

2) you dont need 750W, 550W is plenty enough

this is from a performance stand point

from aesthetics:

1) get a white cooler or black cooler (not sure what colour you're going for now)

2) get a better looking SSD, and two of them for the noctis 450's front mounted 2x 2.5inch drive

3) grab some LEDs

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

The Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 mATX mobo is on sale for like $130... but it is black and red.

Darn, it was a rebate, $150:   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128748&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Rebates are a bitch sometimes, i wish PCPartPicker would add an option to do components w/o rebates.
