Right now i have 8GB of Corsair Dominator Plat 2133 MHz. 8GB isnt really enough for my uses but buying another 8GB kit (of this same ram) is quite expensive. If i buy 8GB from a different manufacturer, but thats still 2133 MHz, will everything still work properly?

Can it work? Yes.
Will it work? You can never be certain with RAM from different kits, even if the specs and manufacturer are exactly the same.
Is it advised? Not really.
Your best option? Match the frequency, voltage, CAS Latency and timings as close as you can to get the best chances of the RAM working.

so even if i did buy another kit of Corsair Dom Plat there's still a risk? if so i might be better off trying to sell this kit and buy a 16gb kit of different ram entirely

That's what I would do personally... too big of a risk money wise if you haven't got a lot. Could end up having to sell the new RAM you just bought or pay a restocking fee or something.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

Yep. RAM is only validated to work with other modules that are part of the same kit. I've had modules with the exact same model number, but they were from different kits and didn't work with each other.

The chances of it not working with the same specs is fairly small, but the risk is still there.

Huh, i guess its going to come down to if i can sell this kit + if i have money to potentially waste :P
