4k Silent gaming Beast

Elegy

Hello, I am planning to get a new computer and I want it to run 4k on my new monitor. I was wondering if someone could pick out the parts for a silent but Amazing build. My budget is $1500ish and I already have a 970 and was planning to either sli or get a 980ti. Which would run best on 4k, and thanks.

Just to clarify, you are planning on running demanding games right?

Because if you are gonna be playing DOTA 2 or CSGO then 4K is really easy to achive even with a much lower budget.

Spoiler

remove the fans on the 212 evo for silent

SSD instead of HDD for silent

980ti strix for 0db fan mode, i know its not the best card but w/e

changed the case to h440, sound dampening ftw

changed psu to platinum efficiency, hopefully it doesnt get hot enough for the fans to be audible

will it run games at 4k? yea

will it run AAA games at 4k? yea, with medium to high settings

will it run AAA games at 4k ultra? yea, but might as well stick to console because 24 fps is cinematic AF

I will be playing AAA titles. But I can sell my 4k monitor and go for a 1440p monitor?

1440p > 4k

It depends on the games lol. CS GO and games that most people play based on demographics will run just fine on a modern $1500 PC at 4K.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

Is it really that smart to go with a watercooler if he wants silence?

Isnt it better with a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3? Or Noctua NH-D14 / 15

And isnt it better to go with a Define R5 or BeQuiet Silent Base 800/600?

You would need 980ti's in sli to call it a "4K gaming beast", especially for newer AAA titles. Should've thought about that before buying a 4K monitor.

Your options:

 - cope with lowering details/resolution

 - play games at <60fps

 - increase your budget

 - wait for Pascal and hope it's much better and doesn't cost a price equivalent of a gold bar

 - get a lower res monitor

Once you fix this problem, you can proceed with building your pc. For silence, the most significant parts are cpu cooler and case choice (incl. fans), unless you're going to get a water cooled gpu or do a custom loop. If you prefer silence over thermal performance, pick an air cooler. For the ultimate performance while keeping the silence, Noctua NH-D15 is the best choice. If you don't care about a more fan and pump noise (30-40 dB at 1m, with full load), get a aio water cooler, the Corsair H100i is decent, or a pricier Kraken x61 for the ultimate performance. For my build, it didn't take long for me to decide on Fractal Define S (or a bit more costly R5 for more customization), it offers a lot of room for mounting rads or even custom loop, if that's your thing. Cpu depends on your other use cases, but for just gaming, 6600K (or non-K if you're not going to OC) is the best you can get. For ram, I'd say Corsair LPX or G.Skill Ripjaws V, depending on how much you think you need (probably 8GB+). Storage is also dependent on how you're going to use your computer, but I would strongly suggest at least 120-250gb ssd for boot drive + most important games/files. Mobo depends on what features you want and if you intend to OC. If you're going to OC, you have to pick Z170 chipset, but if not, you can pick a cheaper mobo with other chipsets. I haven't researched others in depth, but the Asus Z170-A, MSI Z170A GAMING M5 or Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 are all great options, personally I'm opting for the Asus one. For the psu, you'll probably need 650W with single 980ti, or 800W+ for sli. Great options are Corsair RMi/RMx series and above or EVGA G2 you have great psu reviews on the JonnyGURU page.
