I was wondering if 8 GB DDR3 RAM is sufficient to run a stream while possibly multitasking at the same time (browsing internet or even watching a YouTube video)

I have 8 gb hyperx RAM with 1231v3 cpu and r9 380x with 600w PSU.

Should be enough.

I am a paid professional, but only when I am at work...and getting paid.

yes, it's fine.

I run about 10 chrome tabs on each of my dual windows while having steam, skype, folding @ home running, and loads of other stuff.

I'm sure 16 would allow for fewer slowdowns and more programs open, but 8 is fine

why would you stream yourself watching youtube and browsing the internet is beyond me

but if you're streaming while gaming then 8gb is just enough, depends on the game you play

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Is there a difference between 4 x 4 and 2 x  8 or does it not matter?

It matters a little bit in very specific cases.

Personally, I would get 2x8gb because of future expansion from 16gb to something like 32gb

What if i already have 2 x 4? I got it on Amazon so I could return it still but costs return shipping so I'm wondering if it's worth it

Buy another of the 2x4gb kit you have and have 16gb of ram.

If you don't think you need more than 16gb in the future/distant future then dont return it but if you do eat ram then return it.

So long as you get ram rated for the same speed, timings and latency it should work fine with no updates other than going into the bios to ensure they are set to the right speed.

Try to get the same brand and model if you can, be aware there is a very slight chance the two kits won't work together, but that's very rare.
