So after installing my new hyper 212 evo with a noctua redux700 on a fx8350 I have been having some seriously low fps in games.

Even tho its good that i went from the 7k rpm stock jet engine to this completely silent cooler,

going from 300fps on ultra in dota2/csgo to like 25fps is not fun and it happened right after i installed the cooler i blame it.

i dunno what else could be causing it since i havent changed anything else.

If there is some software that lets me check everything that is/might be wrong with my computer thta i havent tried den try recomending me it.

Did you check if the temperatures were normal or if the CPU was thermal throttling?  The cooler might not have been set correctly.

is the cooler seated properly?

if your cpu is overheating, it's probably thermal throttling, resulting in poor performance.

Use CoreTemp to check you core temp when the framerate drops in games. If it's too high (over 85 degrees), reseat the cooler, make sure you used good thermal paste, and try again.

Have you had a game crash due to a GPU overclock? If so, you may be stuck in safe mode with you video card drivers. Restart your PC, and the problem should be fixed.

Check the BIOS to make sure that you aren't putting a stupid amount of voltage through your CPU, and that it's not downclocked.

check your load temps,

if its high then:

1) did you put thermal paste

2) did u peel off the sticker at the bottom that protects the base of the cooler (if it comes with one)

3) did you mount it tight enough to make proper contact

if its normal:

1) did you over-tighten your cooler?

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Did you make sure you took off the possible sicker on the bottom of the cooler that keeps the surface clean when in packaging. IDK if this has one but more experienced PC builder than all of us have made this mistake before (looking at JayzTwoCents, he did this in his last Cooler Master CPU cooler review lol)

Check/redo thermal paste

Agree with Mattyp92, try the old fans

As a response to all of you,

my cpu temps in games are normal  63-70C,

setting the cooler on the cpu mustve been one of the hardest things i have ever done in my life,

once i finally got like 3 of the screws in, the 4th just didnt. it was a difficult and tedious process.

the cooler isnt fully covering the cpu, its maybe like 3mm off.

ive got picture of the whole process im posting them here

Seeing that 65C would be optimal max temp for that CPU, yours is definitely overheating. And with AMD chips you get throttle with overheating. Check your CPU usage and clock speed while you are gaming and getting those high temps.

well it is like 5-10C better then with the stock cooler and i lag for some reason. Im just spawning tons of shit in a dota2 demo and the cpu usage is around 40% while in it, it says its recorded 67% max tho, i dont kno wwhat do you mean by clock speed there is only some Bus Speed which is 201Mhz all the time and the cpu cores are at exactly 4119 sometimes 4219(max) most of the time, sometimes tho like 2-3 of them jump to 1406 for a fraction of a second.

You seem to be getting normal speeds. And it was working good before cooler upgrade? You can do couple more thing but none should matter for gaming situations. Like reseating RAM and clearing CMOS.

Well it was all good just makin a ton of noise thats why i changed it, as you might see on the pictures its not exactly covering the whole cpu and some ppl above said that might be the problem here but i mean when the temperatures are better why should it be. it is rather close to the ram but theyre not touching, also when i tried opening dark souls 2 which i wanted to try cos other games laggin with PowerIso my ram load went to 99.3% even with nothing actually on, restarting did the trick tho. so like i dont know i like playing videogames but now i cant cos they laggy as fuck also i have nothing to watch on netflix after finishing star trek.. so im kinda desperate for any help in here

I feel like the issue isn't with cooler at all. Do you have all drivers updated and windows also updated?

Also I don't understand what you mean by full coverage. If socket is supported, cooler is verified to be working all CPUs using that socket.

well the square block isnt fully on the square cpu so like   [  ] is how the cpu looks, kinda and just so does the block so they just should be like that on each other but theyre more like  [[ ]], you get what im sayin ? the socket or whatever the weird tentacle metal X part doesnt have exact screwholes like "O" that just work with it theres 2 like "OoO"

so i didnt know where to exactly put the screws so on one side i got them in the holes closer to the middle and on the other in the ones farer from the middle even

tho on the picture that came with the cooler they were somehow supposed to be inbetween those 2 holes like i dunno it just somehow got in there this way, it was very

difficult screwing it all in with the huge cooler in so i couldnt move the full square of the cooler to the cpu.

My Windows10 isnt showing no updates and i have most of it on autoupdate so everything should be ok, i just dont get it how something like this can change the performance so significantly

So... you didn't read manual? Evo uses universal bracket which has holes for several sockets. Manual says which holes you should be using for certain socket. After that you twist whole thing to align it for backplate and mobo holes. For example LGA115x uses middle holes for all 4.

i red it quite therly but there is a difference between how it looks in the manual and the actual instalation, it wasnt possible to get all the screws in the middle, theyd  just slide out it was a very tedious process. so like if that is the problem i guess i can get it fixed somewhat
