What can I do for networking with 2 pcs?

VoyexTech

I have two older computers and I wonder what I can with them for networking. (Doesn't need to be very functional just cool)

I have an Anet A8 as my project printer and a i3 MK3 for when I want things to work.

I extrude my own filament and haven't saved a penny yet.

My PC:

Spoiler

CPU: Intel i7 8700k

Motherboard: MSI Z370-A Pro

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V (2x8GB) DDR4-3200

GPU: GTX 1070 Founders Edition (OC'd)

Storage: 2x 2TB Seagate 5400RPM, 128GB ADATA SSD

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750w  B2

cluster computing? not sure you could make it work but its something and its cool :P

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Could be some kind of redundant file server system, if one fails, the other one stays up. That's technically also a cluster.

That's fine, but remember, if you don't connect them to a router, you have to set a static IP on both pcs or they will not connect at all, you won't even be able to ping the other pc

Use the Rocks linux distro and start building a cluster. Then if you get any more older systems you can just add them to the cluster and expand. If you want some older systems for a project I actually have at least 4 complete systems available. They are older (early-mid 2000's era), but they work. I have been wanting to build a cluster with them for a while, I just don't have the space/time right now.

That is actually an awesome idea, I'm definitely going to try that someday!
