A clean installation - Upgrade

So, I just got a new laptop in the mail with no OS and have an 8.1 Professional USB Key that I am planning on clean installing, then upgrading to Windows 10. Would there be any benefit in upgrading to Windows 10 and then clean installing Windows 10 from the installation media, or would upgrading from a clean-installed OS be basically the same thing?

if you did an upgrade and the fresh install in would remove the extra windows 8.1 files on the drive. it can also help if 8.1 had the wrong drivers or something. other wise I haven't notice much of a difference.

it might not be, however im not sure, and i don't know if anyone can really give you an answer on that. clean installation is recommended because usually peoples pcs are full of shit and its just nice to clean install, but what if its a fresh os? im curious, but most likely its about the same thing. but whats really the trouble for you to do win10 clean install when you are upgrading?

all you need to do is put windows 10 on a USB, boot into the USB, format your drive and install windows on it, then activate it with your 8.1 key
