Does putting ram in 1b and 2b matter if i dont have rams 1a and 2a occupied

Most motherboards have 2 colors (1,2,1,2 pattern), so put the RAM in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4

 

doesn't matter if you don't use up all the slots

Generaly it shouldn't. check your mobo's manual to be sure.

 

Why wouldn't you put them in 1a and 2a?

Because the hyper 212 is a big cooler and i dont have LP ram

still there usually is a prefered order which pair of slots to occupy first so you should really just check your manual.

So as long as the 2 ram sticks are in the same colored slot no matter if its black or gray it doesnt matter?

Are you using two fans? if not, you could mount the fan on the other side.

No the 212 goes the other side on my relatives MOBO so ram slot 1 was basicly all blocked off

well you're supposed to use slot 1a and 1b first if im not mistaken... but this also depends on what motherboard you're using

normally you're supposed to insert ram 1 slot away from each other before filling the gaps... but it depends on the motherboard design like i said

Yeah thats my point isnt the ram slot organized 1a,2a,1b,2b

yea and you're supposed to populate in the order

2a, 2b, 1a, 1b
