So I'm currently using a HD 7950 Boost from Sapphire and I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU to balance out my build (got a 4790K).

So I was browsing the webstore of my local pc store and found a lot of GTX 970's so here's my question.

Which GTX 970 is the better one (price/performance) and WHY?

Second question. The 7950 Boost uses more power right?

Also is it worth it? and what about the 3.5GB GDDR5?

The 970 isn't a smart buy due to the fact that the R9 390 performs better and is cheaper. If going for either gpu MSI is a very solid choice and with the R9 390 sapphire is the best.

The MSI 970 4G runs at " 86% ± 11% " bench + SD

whatever that means, msi seems to run pretty fast

but with pascal/polaris around the corner, I would wait

Yeah I heard they are around the corner but any idea when?

I'd wait until the next lot of graphics cards get released, I don't think you could justify the price for what performance increase you'd get going from the 7950 to a 970 when there will be much better cards coming out in a few months.

You should have a bit of time to save up, I don't think they will be coming out till later in the year, I heard September time, but that might be just rumors

I am using Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970, and everything runs smooth until now, maxed out at 1080p. But I would suggest you to go for a 390, as the more video memory is going to prove useful in games.
