Ok so as some of you may know I am planning to do some serious upgrades with my PC (5820K, R9 390) and I have been told I should get a new PSU because my old one isn't very good. What should I get?

Edit: This is my build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6NTvHx

Uhh..

You should be "fine" with the NEX 650w G. People run setups like that with CX 750's.

Kind Of A Home Lab "Bay":

Ryzen 9 5900XT | Intel ARC A310 | ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS | T-FORCE 3200MT/s 16GBx2 + Corsair 3200MT/s 32GBx2 = 96GB!!! WOW!! | 2TB boot SSD + 8TBx6 HDD RaidZ2 | EVGA SuperNOVA 650W G2 | Phanteks Enthoo Pro M | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

The Laptop:

Framework Laptop 13 | Intel i5-1340p | G.Skill Ripjaws 3200MT/s 16GBx2 | Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB | CachyOS

Ok. I guess it all kind of depends how much money I end up with because im tempted that if i have enough I might go 980 or if I dont ill just buy another 390 later

If you have $500 for a GPU I'd get the R9 FURY rather than the 980, unless there's some 980's on EVGA B-stock.

It's a relatively mediocre unit. Not a bad idea to get a nice new PSU!

650W is a nice amount. The EVGA GS/G2 are the default go-tos these days for recommendations. I'd suggest a Corsair RMi as well.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I know it's mediocre, I wouldn't recommend it new, but I'd rather ~$100 go to a better GPU, since the NEX's aren't known for blowing up.

True, just for being kinda crap for what's available for the same amount of money. Very mediocre in every way.
