So. I have a gtx 470 that last I tried OCed to 850 core basically forever. Ran hot on stock cooling (had it in h50 and never went over 68), but never had stability issues. I tried selling it in here, the only buyer I had ended up backing out. Had it for 50 bucks.... I do folding@home but it's just not at all economical for me to run a 470 24/7. i7 sure, but one super power hungry card would be enough to make my California electricity bill be a little to high for no real point.

Would anyone one with enough respect in the community want it to fold on? It's pointlessly sitting in its original box collecting dust. I figure if it can help humanity, why not give it a chance. I don't want to give it to someone to game on, that isn't the point, and that isn't right. I'll still sell it for 50 bucks... But if someone with enough folding respect gives me their word they would use it to fold with, pay shipping and it's yours. Don't even need to use my folding credentials on that cards points. It's for humanity, not padding my 16 million points ;)

I tired folding with my 470, it just isn't worth it anymore, the 950 that replaced it blew the folding doors off of the 470. Could make a nice display piece? I mounted my 580 on my shelf, it looks pretty cool.(my 470 ended up in my mom's PC)

I have my OG X850XT framed and hung above my main rigs triple monitors, and my 8800GTS 640 framed in my living room, sits on my subwoofer lol. The 470 was a cool card, but, it wasn't pivotal like those other two. The 850xt was my first card, and he 8800 was crysis 1.

I feel your pain man. I had to cut down on my crunching here too, as power just keeps getting more and more expensive (and a 340w toaster 24/7 isn't exactly the definition of "cheap"). We're in an energy crysis around here, at least once a week there's a half second blackout.

Maybe you have a friend / family member that could use a new GPU? If so, lend to them the card and ask joining F@H as compensation.
