WD Black or WD Blue to save photos, music, videos, etc..

RRGT19

Hi,

i will have a SSD for my Windows, so i will use the HDD to save my music, photos, videos, etc...

Money is not a problem, i like silence by the way because the PC is next to me.

Which one do you recommend me?.

Green is best for silence

Blue is the best all around one

Black is the best performance one

Red is the NAS one

If you want a very fast one that is relatively quiet, get a WD Black

if you want a average one that is pretty quiet, get a WD Blue

The drive will turn off to save its own lifespan and power. The blue is the best all around.

Black is superior to Blue:

Lower seeks

Faster read and writes

longer warranty

Forgive me El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education...

I have 2x1TB WB Blue and noise is not that bad with them. Honestly I don't think you can hear them. A totally silent option would obviously be SSD's.

For file storage? Blue.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I would recommend the WD Red. They're pretty quick and quiet. They aren't searing hot like the blacks. There's not much of a speed difference between the Blacks and Reds. Or even the highest end WD Re SAS drive.

I have a WD Black in my computer and it can get really loud sometimes. Most of the time it's okay but there's certain workloads that'll make it audible from the other side of my house.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
