Nexus ModManager on OS or game HDD?

Hey there, I have a SSD for my OS(win10) and other programs and then a 2TB WD Black for games and other media. I have Steam, GoG, Origin, etc. installed on the SSD and then installing/pointing all my games to the storage HDD. I am about to install NexusMod Manager but I'm unsure of where to install it to. Is it best to house it on the OS HDD and then point it's mod directory to the storage HDD where the bulk of the games are? Or should I just have the NMM installed on the storage HDD and then everything will be in one place?   

 

Also, what's up with NMM creating a folder called Games?  It makes it confusing which the main games folder is..

It makes no difference where NMM is installed. The first time you start it up, it'll search your computer for where the games are located (or you can point it to your games directory). If you have plenty of SSD storage, install it there because it will load faster. Otherwise just put it on your mechanical drive

Cool, thought so. Just wanted to make sure. I have a 500GB SSD so I'll be installing a few games to it anyways.

I would really suggest to use ModOrganiser over NMM. You don't get your mods irreversably mixed into each other, overwriting each other's files that way.

 

Putting THAT on an SSD will be faster since it stores all the mods in it's folder structure. NMM itself doesn't store any game files. it just replaces the files in your skyrim/fallout/oblivion/whatever folder, so it won't be effected much by the drive.

I find that it loads quickly enough on mechanical storage that I probably wouldn't bother putting it on an SSD anyway, but if you have the space it doesn't really matter. If you're putting the mods folder itself on a mechanical disk regardless then it probably matters even less.
