My activation is whack!?

Go to solution Solved by Rune,

To start Product Activation:

  1. Go to Start, then select Settings, choose Update & security, and then select Activation.
  2. If your device is not activated, the Activate by phone option will be available.

So I just formated my pc and I'm running Windows 10 but it says my activation key is being used on a different computer. I'm assuming since I formated my puter that has something to do with it? I have the activation key but it doesn't let me use it now. I have a disk with Windows 10 from the manufacturer of my computer should I put that in or what do I do?

If the previous install on that computer was windows 10 as well, connect to the internet and try activation. It should reregister your computer without any problems.

No worries, that is what we are here for. Microsoft keeps track of hardware with windows 10 installs. So long as you didn't change the motherboard, it should automatically reactivate everything once you go online.

Oh lol I have a problem then as I did change the motherboard. Would I have buy a new one? As I said I have a windows 10 disk from the manufacturer but I'm not sure. It says "the software included on this recovery media was pre-installed on your hard drive at the factory and may only be used for backup and recovery of your cyberpower, inc. Computer system. Performance of the software is the sole responsibility of cyberpower, inc."

In the case, you'll have to call Microsoft's activation hotline with your key handy. When they ask how many machines it is installed on, say zero (because you are deactivating that copy). Then enter your key into your machine again.

Incredible! I followed the instructions and everything is working now! Windows is activated. This was so helpful you saved me so much time lol.

Not a problem! If you could mark this thread as solved or select one of my posts as best answer it would help others out to know the problem has been solved.
