Hello,

I have been thinking lately my processor choice, AMD Athlon X4 860K or AMD A10-7870K Black Edition. So I'm now asking from you which is better for my budget gaming computer?

Some stats for you:

AMD ATHLON X4 860K

Cores: Quad-Core

Threads: 4

Clockspeed: 3.7GHz (4.0GHz Turbo)

L2 Cache: 4MB

Technology: 28nm

Socket: FM2+

TDP: 95W

AMD A10-7870K BLACK EDITION:

Cores: Quad-Core

Threads: 4

Clockspeed: 3.9GHz (4.1GHz Turbo)

L2 Cache: 4MB

Technology: 28nm

Socket: FM2+

TDP: 95W

---------

Which one is better and is it really worth it to spend double money for 7870K?

Thanks already for help!

They perform the same CPU-wise, the 7870K just also has integrated graphics, if you're going to use a dedicated graphics card from Nvidia or AMD, get the Athlon.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

I have Radeon 5770 now and I'm going to get R9 380 Nitro 4GB

Go for the 860K or maybe go for the i3 4160 with a decent motherboard so you can later upgrade to a better CPu once you get your new GPU. (an oc'ed 860K will only slightly bottleneck the 380 though in some games more than others)
