Anyone else getting these messages, when logging into facebook?

It began with a prompt from facebook, saying I needed to log in and out again, so i followed along, but after logging in a message popped up saying that I may have had a virus.

I immediatly bacame suspicious, but played along. Clicking get started followed me to a site recommending me to dowload some program that would supposedly help.

This was when I had a small panick attack, since I had just  been requested to log in and out meaning I had to type in my password, possibly to someone else than facebook. I have currently changed my password, runned both an AVG scan and a Malwarebytes scan, but wierdly they did not find anything

Just putting this out there to warn others, and wondering what you may think a solution might be as I still have the problem in chrome, but AVG and Malwarebytes come up with nothing. Now I have to use edge because everytime I try to log into facebook in chrome, searching on google to make sure I get the proper facebook url, when I log in, I get the same prompt telling me I have a virus and I need to download this program. Again this does not happen in edge

Apparently its a real thing and people have reported false positives and getting scared shitless.

Still does not add up to me? That post is from 2012 by the way, and does not mention the program linked; ESET online scanner. And why would facebook give me no other option than pressing download? Pressing the facebook icon gets me nowhere, and pressing log out, gets me right to the home page where I can log in and get the same error message as before. Then there is the fact that edge does not have this error message show up, but chrome does.

Doesn't matter when its from, it's still there with only a different scanner. Check chromes' extensions as @FourCorners mentioned.

I don't know if this comes as a surprise to you, but Facebook is the most hacked social media / forum / blog type website, and many more times so than other such websites. I've personally had my Facebook account hacked into twice, and phishing scam emails to get your login details for Facebook are nothing new.

Facebook really is not a suitable site that anyone with basic knowledge of Internet security should be using - personally it was due to the peer pressure from my non tech savvy friends that I made my account.

Worse still is that anyone in the entire world can view your account, even if you block them or set your profile to private - all it takes is manually entering the URL for any private profile to fully view it.

Do yourself a huge favour and stop using Facebook.

Turns out there was nothing dangerous to it after all like @ModuleLFS suggested. Still really wierd to me how vague and suspicous facebook makes this whole process look.

Good news, I've submitted a deletion request for my Facebook account. I doubt that my remaining <10 active 'friends' who I havnt messaged or spoken to in years will mind.

Bad news, it will take 14 days for a full deletion.

Last time I checked had more friends... Maybe my account was hacked again and everyone sent porn links from it, I don't honestly care anymore. Just go away rubbish Facebook.
