I'm assuming you're not looking for colour at that price range...

Hi! I've worked for a tech retailer for too long to keep this to myself.

Take some time to estimate how much you're going to print during the first two years, or however long the warranty period on the unit is. Let's say ten thousand pages. Then source info on how much you're going to be paying for the cartridges for those 10k prints. Factor that in to your budget. Usually the cheapest printers have the more expensive cartridges and if you pay a bit more for the printer, you'll save on printing later on. Also, don't trust to be able to print on the cartridge that comes with the printer at all. They're not full, not even close. Usually you can get some hundreds of pages out of them but it's not at all consistent.

Thanks for the reply, is this one any good? http://www.ncix.com/detail/brother-hl-l2320d-30ppm-250-sheet-capacity-a3-100649-1516.htm

I asked my friend and he said he would be using it for a couple years probably.

Usually how long does it last unit you have to replace the toner because i look up the price of the toners and they are not cheap.

So my friend asked me what are some good and cheap laser printer. Any suggestion? Price range is around $60-100 CAD

Thanks

I would suggest Brother Laser printers. Quality is pretty good, and toner is fairly cheap. You can also buy super cheap 3rd party toners from the likes of Canada Computers, NCIX, etc.

http://www.staples.ca/en/Brother-HL-L2320D-Monochrome-Compact-Laser-Printer-with-Duplex/product_1074269_2-CA_1_20001

Not a bad choice (It has duplex feature)

http://www.amazon.ca/Brother-HLL2320D-Monochrome-Laser-Printer/dp/B00LEA5EHO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1457415387&sr=8-2&keywords=brother+laser+printer

A bit cheaper, and free shipping

Brother printers use separate Toner and Drum cartridges. This means that toner tends to be a bit cheaper. Though once the drum dies (Depends on the model, usually 10,000 to 25,000 pages - I believe this printer has a 12,000 page drum), they are pretty expensive to replace. With that in mind, 10,000 pages for someone who doesn't print regularly can easily be 5-10 years, and then you can choose to simply buy a new printer instead of a drum (Often for the same or less price).

HP units are also pretty good (Their laser printers are generally excellent), but toner tends to be more expensive. HP toners include an integrated drum unit in every toner cartridge. The benefit to this is that you never need to replace the drum, since every toner includes a new one. The downside is of course, more expensive toners. You can buy 3rd party toners as well, but not usually for as cheap.

Samsung and Canon make decent ones too, but I would advise only buying one of those if they are on a really high sale discount.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

lol... good find. BUY IT.

Also, look up toner prices for third party toners:

http://www.ncix.com/detail/cartridgeone-compatible-toner-for-brother-b9-106730.htm

$25 for the high capacity 2600 page toner.

The printer itself will easily last 5+ years. How long the toner lasts will entirely depend on printing habits.

FYI, the toner that comes in the box is a "starter" toner, usually around 600 or less pages.

The laser toner doesn't try up. It's safe to assume that it keeps 'forever'. As in, it comes down to how much you print. I have nothing at all against Brother. Maybe it's not as cheap as HP but beats it in build quality any day. The larger TN-660 yields 2600 prints on paper (a pun, hah!) If you do a dozen prints every working day, which is around 220 days, it'll last for a year.

I gotta head out for work now. If you have questions, I'll be happy to help but it'll take me around ten or so hours starting now.

I think I have decided on these two, they are compatible correct?

TN660 is a compatible toner cartridge. Good price on both!

I personally have the DCP-L2540dw - I bought it a few months ago on a ridiculously good price. I've also had experience with the Brother HL series for quite a few years.
