RealVNC Problem

I wonder if any of u guys can help me out here.

I have been using RealVNC for months to connect to anyone of my other computers around my home wirelessly.

A week or so ago my ASUS RT-AC66U died a death and i replaced it with an ASUS RT-AC87U. Since the switch i cannot connect to any of my pcs anywhere i get the error "timed out waiting for response from host computer".

I have checked and double checked and i know the IP addresses im attemping to connect to are right, Ports are forwarded correct and firewall rules in place, does anyone know what could be the issue?

No idea.  Try and put one computer temporarily on a DMZ and see if it works. Make sure to remove the DMZ afterwards. 

 

A DMZ will essentially make a whole in the firewall for the specific computer.  I normally use it when setting up Honeypots, you want to be careful of using it for any home computers for longer periods of time.  You won't get instantly hacked or anything but you might be at a much more significant risk of attack.

It works on a DMZ.  So am i right thinking the router firewall is blocking it?

 

If so why are the ports still blocked even after port forwarding?
