Hi all, I'm trying to build my own desktop since my laptop (bought 4 years ago) is having hard time. I don't have much knowledge of building my own desktop, and came up with below after little searching. I need a desktop for gaming (but doesn't have to be high-end), and want to always have a possibility of upgrades for future. Could you please advise if below makes sense to you in terms of performance and price? Many thanks in advance.

if you plan on gaming, a graphics card can really help and 16GB of RAM isn't needed unless you intend to do video editing or the sort. 8GB should be good enough. Also using PCpartpicker in the future can really help others help you. Also budget?

edit: didn't see that the gpu was in a different picture, thought I was looking at it all in the first picture

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

Spoiler

Personal Computer: CPU: i7-4790 Mobo: Asrock Z97 Extreme6 Graphics Card: MSI R9-380  Memory: 16GB (8GB x2) G. I strongly recommend 16. Right now, I'm using 6gb  of my 16 with only Rainbow Six Seige on the main menu and chrome open with two tabs.

Why not go to 32GB... or 64? Heck, let's step to Linus' level and go with 128.

But seriously, yeah. I agree, Modern games can use a heck of a lot of ram and hooo boy chrome and firefox...

really? I find I never use more than 4Gb when I'm gaming. Maybe it's because Seige is a ram intensive game? I haven't played it so I can't confirm it.

I would recommend getting 16gb since RAM is a lot cheaper than it was a year ago. I actually had to buy 8gb more a month or so ago since I was playing modded Fallout 4.
