yeah, like wth... where did you get a PWM fan controller on H440?

it's a polex powered 3 pin

OP might be mistaken. The input is a 4 pin pwm connector, but the fan hub itself is not pwm. I removed mine from the case.  Have never seen a need for fan hubs.  Modern motherboards come with pwm fan headers all around, software to control each fan individually, and you can plug in many fans into one header through simple splitters to create different clusters of fans in your setup.
