I don't understand (temperatures)

Right, so as you probably know, I broke my H100i and sent it back in. I got a new one and decided to overclock again. This time however, at 1.25V and 4.5Ghz, my temperatures are A LOT higher.

and now I'm hitting 85°C with 1.200v @4.5ghz, what the hell?

 

At idle I'm getting 45°C'ish.

The only thing I can suggest is you check the fitting and re apply thermal paste... the last time I had an issue with a H100i was because I did not put enough paste on...

Fair enough, I got some quality thermal paste laying around somewhere, I'll see tomorrow!

It could just be your chip. Or a faulty voltage regulator on the chip as they where moved onto the CPU itself. It could be the thermal paste you are using. Try and re-apply it with a smaller amount or just use a different paste.

That cpu is running at 4.7ghz not 4.5. A Haswell running at 85c sounds reasonable under full load. If you are concerned that this temperature is higher than it was before with the same cooler then that might be because of the fans running at a lower rpm.

I've applied some new thermal paste and AMAZING. With 4.5Ghz @ 1.25V I'm getting 56°C as my hottest core! Thanks a lot!
