Phantek Enthoo Pro... How?

Well this is quite a different topic. But I have a Phantek Enthoo Pro, and I'm trying to get it to make less noise. I have all my fans (including my H105 fan) into the fan hub in the back of the case, yet they seem to be makign a lot of noise anyway. I'm using AF140 and AF120 from Corsair, silent edition (2 front, 1 back, 2 on my h105) and yet I think they're making a lot of noise. How do I change that? Currently they're on 900RPM but I would like them to be more silent. I'm not sure if that's a lot or if thats low, but IMO I think they're too loud.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: I have a Asus ROG Formula Z97 motherboard, and the phantek fan connecter is attached to CPU connecter on the motherboard.

Well, aside from corsair fans naturally being some of the loudest "premium" fans you can get, there's not much you can do that you haven't already. 900rpm should be silent though, even for those jet-engines.

Swap them out for some noctua, or gentle typhoon, or vardar fans. They're all far quieter and will cool far... far better.

You also should NOT be using air-flow designed fans for radiators, you're shooting yourself in the foot on cooling efficiency.

Lol. 900 rpm is near dead silent for most fans. You can try to get them lower with pwm or a fan controller.

I've tried to turn down every fan. First my GPU, then the cpu cooler, and concluded that it is my fans that are the problem. It's not by a lot, but I can still hear it, which annoys me. I'm using the stock fan controller built in phantek enthoo pro, which I've heard should be good enough.

Oh... Woah I've been misinformed by a ton, lol. And no worries, I'm using the SP series on my radiator.

Now I live in Denmark, do you have any suggestions which specific fans that I should be aiming for? Noctua would be the prime?

Noctua perform admirably, and are some of the quietest fans you can get your hands on, however, they carry a hefty price premium.

Gentle Typhoon and EKWB's Vardar fans are probably your best bet, however, they're basically just for radiators since their entirely static pressure oriented.

Sadly those are not something I can get a hand on, only the noctua.

Which Noctua would you recommand? I'm trying to go for a full 140mm fan setup. And hence my motherboard, I dont really mind the price of components, beside if it's mindblowing ridicoules.

Would probably be your best bet if you wanted to go for 140mm variants. I've not used that specific model personally, so can't speak to it from personal knowledge.

I was looking at that too. Now I see there's both a PWM and a ULN and FLX. What are the difference if you know that? I see that the PWM is the one with the highest RPM and Dba. Compared to my corsair af140 which has 24.x dba, the noctua has 19-24 dba aswell. How big is the difference, because as I see it, the difference is not that big.

Dba as stated by manufacturer often isn't that accurate at all, real world tests are far more reliable as a fab will do everything they can to get the best possible results for their fans with varying effectiveness.

PWM, or pulse width modulation, is a 4 pin fan connector and allows for much better rpm control.

uln, or ultra low noise, designed to run at much lower rpm for quieter stock operation.

flx, can't actually recall what this was off the top of my head.

The Corsair AF140 is actually not too bad. However, the AF120 is awful. The Noctua NF-A14 isn't any quieter than the Corsair AF140 at the similar rpm. I've them both. Although Noctua will have better static pressure.

Everyone has different tolerance to noise level. Someone suggests fans at 900rpm would be close to silent. I've mine running at 750rpm at idle, Still they're clearly audible. I suggest you turn down the fan speed even further and keep an eye on the temp. Quite possibly, you will only see a couple of degree of increase in temperature, while the rig runs much quieter.

That's exactly my point. They're at 850-900 ish, and yearh they're low noise and I can't hear it at all when I'm playing or listning to low music, but whenever I just leave my pc on and do nothing else I can clearly hear it without a doubt, and thats what I wanted to stop.

Now the problem is that I can't get them any lower than 850 RPM. How I do that, I do not know. I'm using AI Suite 3 right now as my program to change between RPM. I dont think I can use my BIOS unless I change all my fans to a mobo header isntead of the fan controller installed in the Phantek Enthoo.

The Corsair AF fans are DC only(3 pin). Asus won't let you drop DC fan below 60%, if my memory is right. I don't remember if The Corsair AF fan come with a low noise adaptor or not. But you can always get some. Which helps to drop another 200-300rpm. 350x700px-LL-e6983274_IMG_1694.jpeg

lol I have the same case with BitFenix spectre pro 200mm fans front and top (needed to do a little cutting to get the top to fit) and Phanteks PH-140XP fans 1 in the rear and 1 in the side panel where I cut a hole for better GPU cooling. With a Phanteks PH-TC14PE cooling the CPU I'm not bothered by the noise....of course I have two kids. It's actually fairly quiet though, and stays cool very well
