Hello

I'm currently using a dell T3500 as my main pc, I've recently upgraded the processor to a Xeon w3565 and now wish to improve my graphics.

I'm currently using an Asus NVidia GeForce GT 610 which is quite useless but I do have a NVidia Quadro FX 4600.

I was wondering if my pc would be able to power it safely with its 525w power supply or if I would need a new one and if so what kind would be suitable

The CPU requires 105 watt

the GPU 134 watt

so if you mobo is under 100 watt you should be okay but I would upgrade to a psu thats bronze or gold with about 600

Nah I cant seem to find any info on my mobo apart from its different slots etc. which is a problem when

calculating power usage.

Something I did find on the spec sheet was that the computer can be built with a quadro fx 4000 series and in brackets states it can take cards up to 150w but I don't know if that is with a better power supply or not

ok so basically I tried it on my old pc with a 400w power supply and it worked ok until I booted up a game, where the psu then overheated producing a burning smell, but in theory then, if it can be powered (barelu) off a 400w then the 525w should be fine no?
