I guess that the more I listen i'm becoming a Audiophile... So far i'm running a set of ATH-M50's and i'm not able to get the quality i want with onboard, having said that i'm wondering what suggestions you have. I know i don't want a new set of headphones, i'm looking at a headphone amp but i'm open to idea's. I do have a limited budget but if needed i'm willing to save up. I'd like if possible that the amp could be used on my computer as well as, when away from home, would it be possible to use it with a ipod, and computer? and rare limited use for a soundboard for monitoring. My budget is around 150 on the high end and i live in the U.S.

Sorry for the spotty description of what i'm looking for i have many thoughts about this and many questions if you need any additional info leave a post and i'll get back as soon as possible thanks in advance

Edit: I've seen some from this site  http://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/headphone-amps.html

and was wondering if you have any other ideas, i'm looking at the one there that is both battery and 120V any thoughts?

FIIO has some portable AMP's that can be used for PC. I think it is the E7 and E9 (don't quote me on that.)

I've looked at them shortly and i also saw this http://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/headphone-amps.html

and was wondering if you or anyone knows a difference from them, i'm thinking i want something that is powered from something besides batteries and on the mayflower site i saw some that were powered by battery, and 120. any thoughts?

The O2+ODAC runs off AC wall power only as the batteries are removed to fit the DAC board inside the O2.

You'd want this model.

The FiiO E10 runs off USB power only, and it's cheapest here:

Either will EASILY power your ATH-M50s

All of our amps comes with A/C power, batteries are optional.

Thanks for some great suggestions, but one thing i'm looking at is http://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/objective2-amplifer-with-odac.html

VS. http://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/standard-objective2-amplifier.html

What is the difference and between the two, and can someone define a ODAC? i'm kinda lost on that acronym

odac is just a dac integrated into the amp.

it will take the role of the sound card.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Well if you plan on using a headphone amp you'll need a DAC too. So out of the 2 get the first one, O2 with ODAC. It is a little much for M50's though, FiiO E10 would suffice but if you plan on upgrading sooner than later go with the O2+ODAC.

You don't NEED a dac. On board should be okay for now.

There's no such thing as too much.

Thanks for the correction. Also I think there is a thing as a little too much haha.

Buying something like a Leben CS300x for a pair of M50's would be a little too much, though this is completely illogical and I doubt anyone is that dumb haha :)

Also If I were buying an O2 I would get the combo :)
