Why?

Low quality secondary caps and it's not better than the EVGA GQ/GS/G2 which are cheaper.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Likely because it's a bit more expensive than similar options.

If he says it's a bad PSU, then he may be either drunk, or stupid. Maybe both. :)

No. The capacitors on the RM series aren't as good as EVGA PSU's.

The RM (non i or x) series uses lower quality secondary caps than units in a similar price range (EVGA GS and G2 for example).

It is not a bad PSU, though. It is just expensive for what it is. An EVGA GS or G2 would be my choice.

They're by no means poor quality. Furthermore, capacitors are not everything.

Not saying I recommend the RM over the EVGA, just saying that anyone saying the RM is bad is fucking stupid.

I'd personally pick up whatever is cheaper, or a nice seasonic unit.

The RM650 is an okay unit. That said, chances are, the EVGA GQ 650, hell, even the EVGA G2 650 is cheaper and that is far superior than the RM650.

If you wanna stick with Corsair, go with something like an RM650x.

Can you find an EVGA GQ/EVGA B2 for a reasonable amount of money?

RM is quite old and not manufactured anymore. I recommend the RMx which is the newest one with much better specs (somewhat better than GQ).

Well you can buy it (in the EU I can find 15 year old models with 9 amps @ 12V) but it is not manufactured and not even listed at the official website.

That's not a bad deal. I might go for that, but why can't you use Newegg or Amazon?

Why not get the FSP Hyrdo G 650W for $80 instead of the RM? It's fantastic quality, much better than the EVGA GS with its floppy voltage regulation, and a wonderful choice that is very near if not equal to G2 quality for a cheaper price.

Im only using frys.com
