Is this bad?

Go to solution Solved by ttam,

Is it bad to leave my laptop on for weeks at a time? I rarely ever shut my laptop down, I usually just put it to sleep or on hibernate.

Is this bad for my battery/laptops life?

If you let the battery drain, yes, it will shorten the length of the battery.

Leaving it on isn't a problem.

My friend always had his laptop on... literally 24/7 and restarted about once a week for updates and other things and it seems to be running fine. If you do want to have it on or on hibernate or sleep and you have the ability to plug it in then don't have the battery in it since gradually it will decrease it's life.

I take my laptop to school and between classes its on sleep mode, and I charge it overnight (its either folding or mining) and i don't charge it until I get home. When I get home I charge it till school next morning. Is that a problem?

Nope. I find that letting a battery go 100%-0% and then charging is best to maintain a healthy battery.

That's the worst thing you can do though. That will kill the battery

Not to dead. Typically electronics (phones, etc) will sit at 0% and not die for a few. This was advice given from an engineer at NEC a very large battery maker and has served me very well over the years.
