R7 240 worth overclocking

MoonlightSylv
Go to solution Solved by DocSwag,

Everything is always worth overclocking.

I don't know how far it will go, but I guess you can always try.

Also, by the time you save up or the 380x, Polaris and Pascal might be out already so you might want to consider those instead of a 380x.

Before you say "GET A BETTER GFX CARD SKRUB!!111!!!1!" I'm 12, I don't get money that easily. I'm saving for a 380x.

Is the R7 240L by ASUS worth overclocking? It runs at 28c idle with 2 1280x1024.

If you have enough PSU for it, yeah, go for it.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I'd give it a go if I was you. What's the worst that could happen? It's extremely unlikely you break anything and if it gets unstable just tone it down a bit or go back to the stock clocks.

Obviously a bit of overclocking you won't magically give your R7 240 the performance of a Fury X, but every FPS helps.
