Well I was casually running and thinking, as I always do, about stuff I like, and I ended up thinking about the whole issue with the new Microsoft Online Store or whatever they call it. Am I just late to the party or is PC gaming slowly turning into consoles? Bear with me here, hardware wise that's not gonna happen, consoles are far behind, but if you think about it, the whole Microsoft exclusive Gears of Wars thingy really is a sketchy manoeuver if they really wish what's best for gaming. When you think about it, Nvidia and AMD are also doing this, throught exclusive features of GPU and stuff. Uplay, Origins, Steam, aren't they all distributing platforms, as the consoles are? Is that really whats going on here, or am I just misinformed?

Exclusivity of certain features has always existed. At the same time, companies do offer niches like NVIDIA with PhysX, but of course that also shot them in the foot. To me, this is nothing new and each company will try to offer something the other company can't. It's competition.

Key word here competition. I was just wondering if microsoft was trying to get all of pc gaming on windows under their control. I quitted consoles for that freedom and now I'm kind of upset.

In one respect, it could be considered a methodology to make PCs simpler for people who aren't tech savvy.

No, because if nobody buys their games from the windows app store, it won't fly.

Some people just like something that works, not something you need to tinker with. Yeah yeah, I hear you, consoles are slowing the gaming industry, but hey, the less people know more profit for companies, right?

Unless Microsoft buys out devs to only use DX12 or something in their games.

not the point i was aiming at, lol.

 

PC mustardrace think performance is king, while to a certain degree, that holds true, i prefer consoles games opposed to PC games - exclusive wise.

 

I played bloodborne on PS$, that will never come to PC, and yet, it is one of the best games out there, it may run at 30fps and under, but i still enjoyed the hell out of it.

It's only going to get worse when dx12 becomes used fairly often since microsoft is trying to make windows 10 some weird sort of eco-system like apple, along with their plans to make a "modular console with dx12", I don't have faith in the games industry's future given the current trends.

It's not about the specs, sometimes when I get out of work, I don't feel like starting up my computer to play games, so I just start up my xbox and jump into a game. Sometimes it's just about relaxing.

You know how it is, the cow goes "moo", the dog goes "woof" and the gamer goes "The PvP is unbalanced."

Personally I don't see this as a conspiracy, Tek Syndicate had a video this week specifically talking about this subject. I don't agree with some of their conclusions BUT, they actually have good points! worth a watch ("Microsoft is F*cking the PC Gaming Community rant:30" on Tek Syndicate youtube channel!)
