Asus Z170-A w/ Noctua NH-D15(S)

maremp

I'm getting Asus Z170-A and air cooling solution, most likely NH-D15 or NH-D15S. I'll also have Gigabyte GTX 980ti (G1 gaming), preferably in the first x16 slot. I can't seem to find any information about the dimensions and if the cooler will fit in this configuration, with the cooler fan blowing towards the back (IO) side. Does anyone have a similar config or knows how I can verify the fit before buying? Or should I play it safe and sacrifice getting 1 fan (for 6€ more) and get the NH-D15S, which is advertised as more compatible?

Bigger coolers usually block first PCIe slot. In your mobo its x1 slot. So unless that GPU have massive backplate, you are fine with both coolers.

Did a bit of research on this one, everything said it would fit, D15S will give a little more room, but as long as you're not trying to install the heatsink after the gpu you should be fine

The difference between D15 and D15S is that the D15S is offset so there will be enough clearance for the first PCIe slot.

Get the D15S just to be sure.
