What programs do you use for editing?

Fyi, you don't need a 780. It's overkill and not a good value. A single 770/7970 already maxes out almost everything at 1080p.

Premier Pro / Sony Vegas and I plan on playing games on triple monitors, so I think a 780 will be needed.

How's this look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1DtfY

Ssd isn't just for boot--you should be putting all your programs on it as well.

2 hdds in raid 0. You can load games and record on it at the same time.

Replace the H100i stock fans with the Hyperrboreas. Prolimatechs for the case: 2 in front, and 1 each at base and rear.

If you want to keep that look change your PSU to the AX760 and save some $.

760w is more than enough even with SLI. Having used both the AXi and AX PSUs I can say the AX are definitely preferred. There's no annoying starting and stopping of the fan, the fan stays off until 70% load (which you'll never reach) instead of ~35% load, the Corsair Link software is pretty buggy and really just a gimmick and isn't worth paying for and they don't have an annoying green light on them that just ticks you off when you've made your rig look nice.

Not a fan of MSI, and for the fans. Im set on corsair SP120's since they compliment my color scheme.

Why not Msi?

As for Corsair SP120's, they're pretty darn loud.

Not a fan of the look of the MSI board and I prefer Asus for its software like AI Suite. As for the SP120's, I heard the quiet versions are indeed quiet.

The Quiet versions aren't that quiet. There are cheaper, quieter, and better fans like Gelids.

What do you think about Bitfenix Spectre Pro's? Maybe noctuas? Im willing to sacrifice the look for a bit until the black noctuas come out. Also, will a H100i fit in a fractal r4?

Spectre Pros are good but are better for case fans than for radiators. Noctuas are always good but it's not like Gelids can't do the job. It'll depend on what you want.

Yes, the h100i will fit.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just came back from a little break and my current PC won't boot up. Great for me! :/ Anyways, I've been researching some parts and i've made a couple of changes. Im planning on ordering the pc either today or tomorrow. Changes are in RED

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Smaller + Window)
CPU: Intel i7 4770k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i (Pull)
RAM: Vengeance Pro 16gb (2x8) 1600mhz (Cheaper than dominator platinums and still look nice)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H (Looks great IMO + good features. Any other recommendations?)
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 780 Classified + Backplate (EVGA > Asus IMO + backplate for looks)
PSU: Corsair AX760 (Saving a bit of money)
Fans: 2 Noctua 120's for H100i, 1 Noctua 140 for back and 2 Noctua 140's for the front. (Better performance and quieter)

Storage:

120gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD for boot
2tb Seagate Barracuda for programs/files (Better pricing)
1tb Seagate Barracuda for recording gameplays (Better pricing)
250gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD for games

Not sure which Noctua fans would be good for the radiator and which would be good for the case. Any help appreciated @WoodenMarker @CoolBeans

NF-F12's for everything would be cool. A14 FLX's are good too.

Why the UD5? The normal D3H should be cheaper and would do the job.

I can't make up my mind :/ Anyways, after lookin for a while, I think the Asus Hero would be the best for me. Has the perfect amount of features for a good price. I'll be looking at the fans in a bit. Thanks for the help. Is there anything else I should know?

I didn't mean that it has more features. I meant that it has less features that I would never use, like dual LAN ports. Sorry for not explaining that clearly.

You said the Hero has the perfect amount of features. What do you mean by that? What features does it have that you want that the cheaper D3H doesn't?

Ah we're talking about the D3H. Im not on a PC so I can't go into technical details, but from my experience, I have always liked asus boards more than the others and have had better experiences with their customer support. I'm also a fan of their software and the look of their ROG boards.
