Was going to recommend the MSI Gaming 5, great board as I decided to allow $50 more for motherboard as I feel its important to not cheap out on.

Whatever you do, Dont get the MSI Krait Edition, sure it has a pretty sick color scheme (white/black) But my god it has so many issues, im on my 2nd one due to RMA and I regret not sticking with Asus for motherboards. :/ MSI makes great boards otherwise, Gaming 5/7 Mpower Xpower etc are all good but yeah. Just my 2 cent. imo ASUS>Msi>Gigabyte/evga/asrock  .

Mobo doesn't decide the performance of you PC but it decide the features you can have in your PC. For ex O.C, no. slot, Max memory, Max memory speed. weather you will be able to use SLI or crossfire (in short how many PCi e X16, X8, X4 they are giving) etc. At you budget, you can try out this motherboards.

ASRock Z97 Anniversary, MSI Z97 PC MATE, ASRock Z97 EXTREME4, Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3

For more detail other than spec, you can see what others are saying in the review of the product, which is available at e- commerce site like newegg, amazon etc.
