Hey

im going from 960 2gb sli to a single 970/390/390x/fury depending on what deals i find

im also going from a NZXT Krzken X61 to a nhl12 or nhd15s or nhu14.

Can anybody give me some reccomendation for what cooler is best and if the nhd15s or nhd15 will fit in a NZXT S340 and what you think of the video card selection and upgrade?

R9 390 or GTX 970 for the best bang for your buck.

Why the downgrade from the Kraken X61? Any particular reason?

Pump failed and it was kinda loud even before it started dying. I just want somthimg simpler and with less points of failiyre. Also quiet.

Then the NH-D15 gets my vote if you're not picky on aesthetics. The beQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 is a better looking alternative, although it cools slightly worse than the Noctua.

Also check out the Phanteks TC-14PE and the Cryorig R1 Ultimate.

Same here. I might go for the nhd15s because it has slightly better clearance than the nhd15. Im worried that it wont fit in the S340. Is that a problem?

I don't think they'll fit now looking back at it. The CPU clearance for the S340 is about 160mm so both Noctua fans are out of the question since they won't fit.

You may have to resort to the Noctua NH-D14 or the beQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 instead.

Ok. Nhd14 sounds fine. Its an awesome air cooler and is supposed to be really quiet. What about the nhl12?

The NH-D14 should cool better since the NH-L12 is a low profile CPU cooler.

I know. Im still worried about clearance. Im still using a Asus Z170AR which has a fairly large io shroud piece. I plan tonswitch to the corsair 400q from the s340 as well...

Yeah, the IO shroud shouldn't be the issue, it's more of the case that's restricting clearance. If you upgrade to a Corsair 400Q, you'll easily fit in something like the NH-D15.

Ok great. Actually i think im gonna stick with the nhd14 just because it is listed and quieter than the nhd15 :)
