Hey! I currently have a Corsair RM750 PSU in my sytem and I'm looking for a sleeved modular cable kit for it. I've seen the Bitfenix alchemy 2.0 kits that seem to be great (they offer different kits to each brand of PSU).

However, my question is;
Given the RM series' bad rep, should I buy a new PSU first BEFORE springing for a cable kit from bitfenix?

Thanks

The RM series has a bad reputation? News to me. Maybe you're thinking of the CX series?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

The CX has an even worse rep, but I've heard that the RM series still have shoddy capacitors and other undesirable stuff. Maybe someone else can explain, I'm not THAT clued up on the issue.

The CX isn't a bad PSU, it's just not a gaming PSU, and people who buy them looking for one will naturally be upset.

The RM's capacitor issues were resolved last year when the PSUs manufactured by Chicony for Corsair were discontinued, replaced by Channel Well Technology construction. CWT uses much higher quality Japanese capacitors. If you've got a pre-mid 2015 RM, there's a good chance it's still a Chicony with lower grade capacitors, but it's not like it's going to kill your system. If you'd be more comfortable with a different PSU, by all means get one. If there's one component that you absolutely need to be happy with, it's your PSU. That said, I don't think you're sentencing your PC to an early death by keeping a PSU that, I'm assuming, works just fine in there.

I wouldn't say the RM is a bad PSU it has lesser quality caps than it should have for the pricepoint and tier. As for sleeved cables if you want full replacement cables cable mods has kits for the RM series:
