Just sharing some personal experiences. Yeah who uses dvd drives these days , well I find it kinda useful xD

So anyway up until now I didn't know that DVD drives can have their firmware updated. So I have a Optiarc DVD RW AD-5280S and decided to update the firmware , well more like a custom firmware that unlocks/modifies some features.

Here are the changes the firmware made:

Spoiler

Booktype setting allows for setting the booktype of a +R/+RW and +R-DL DVD disc to DVD-ROM.
This improves compatibility for some older commercial players.

Auto-Reset prevents the drive from permanently storing region code changes.

Well there ya go .. more functionality.

Curious , did anyone else do this?
