will my CPU bottleneck my GPU? Solved

Go to solution Solved by DaltonM,

Basically any quad core at least 2.8 Ghz meets the recommendations for most AAA games.

At stock the 4690k is a while away from becoming a bottleneck. Perhaps in super intensive RTS games.

I play Planetary Annihilation (very CPU intensive) at ultra with my 4690k+750ti and get 100+ FPS, with no slow downs.

You'll be fine for a while. It's good that you have the unlocked chip, so when it becomes a bottleneck you can OC to squeeze more life out of your CPU.

EDIT: As for GPUs getting too hot, get Furmark or something and put them under load for 30mins, if they get close to 80C, you need to start worrying heating.

i have a Intel i5 4690k and want to know if it will bottleneck 970's in 2x SLI. i know i have enough power and that my motherboard supports SLI but, how do i tell what slot to put the 2nd GPU in. Also will the GPU's be too close and overheat?

Thanks in advance, Cameron :)

Hell no. Also, put the second GPU in the slot closest to the top one. Cooling may be a bit poorer for one of them, but it is usually fine and doesn't make much difference
