Need something that will work on both Xbox one and PC

 

 

would prefer something $50ish, $100 max, CANADIAN $$

pretty sure you need to use the head set adapter http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset-Adapter/dp/B00IAVDOS6 if you already have that you can pretty much use and headset

If he has a new version XBone controller, they already have the 3.5mm adapter on the bottom. The older/original XBone controllers required that adapter.

The HyperX Cloud I/Core should be in you price range and are quailiy headsets. Although, headsets are quite a bit overpriced (generally 2x the cost of an equivalent pair of headphones minus the mic) and if you care about sound quality, you might want to go more towards headphones with sometihng like a clip-on mic.
