950 vs. 960

skitlesas

Get R9 380 it is more powerfull than GTX 960 in most games and is usualy cheaper.

Looking at those prices.. these are overpriced 950s and are not worth it at all. Better get that GTX 960 or R9 380.

The 960 will actually jump ahead the 380 a bit depending on his CPU.

Can you wait?

I have a feeling Nvidia will drop the 970 as the entry level "ti" card as it rolls out Pascal.

I smell a 950 ti coming.

Back to your question.  What PSU do you have?  If it's under 400 watts, don't bother with the R9 380.  You'll burn your house down.

I'd spend the extra $20 and get the 960 over the 950.  The 960 is highly oc-able.

One thing is for sure, the 950 is not worth it.

I think that the 950 might be a better price to performance card than the 750 or 750ti (since they used to be the go to budget cards) but I haven't sat down and done the math so don't quote me on that.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! 960 is already a "950 TI", or you could say the 950 is a "960 SE" the 970 is still "big" maxwell to drop that hard in price (you talking about half the price..)
